India bowled Pakistan out early in their Asia Cup women’s face-off in Dubai on Saturday (September 5) when they claimed the victory with a 55-run stand in 8.4 overs. India found itself in a tight spot when they had to chase 56 runs from the lowest all-out score in Women’s T20Is in Pakistan, India Women vs Pakistan Women, but then Fatima Sana had briefly won her side some time when she took out three of India’s top three batters but there was no late drama as Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma delivered a solid performance for the hosts. India jumped to the top of Group A with a 3-0 record after defeating Sri Lanka by seven wickets.
Pakistan chose to bat first and had a fairly solid start with Shawaal Zulfiqar and Muneeba Ali taking the opening wicket for 27 runs. Muneeba had a couple of opportunities to score runs in the early overs, one coming as a simple dropped chance at cover-point, but Shafali Verma finally broke through in the fifth over, to pick her up for 13 off 15. Gull Feroza was caught at a backward point after running down the pitch for three balls to charge a Shree Charani delivery in the air, three shots later. Charani, who was the more fluent of the two hitters, went next in the same over with three off 14, with Zulfiqar caught in front. But Fatima saw that Umm-e-Hani was not moving when she was more than half way down. She quickly spins around and sprints back and sprawls to the crease but still is short.

That should have been a straightforward run-out which Deepti almost messed up, but Fatima was so far down that there was enough time to make up for the fumble.
