Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women, Semi Final 2 (B1 v A2), Women’s Asia Cup 2026
Okay, Fatima Sana did everything she could, but it wasn’t enough. It’s an all round marvel of her effort and a worthy Player of the Match. But now it is Sunday’s final which has come up and it is India vs Sri Lanka for the third consecutive time.

India got the better of Sri Lanka in the 2022 final, before the island nation finally broke through to claim their maiden Asia Cup title in 2024. Both teams have been without a defeat in this tournament and well-deserved for reaching the top clash. So, anticipate an interesting conclusion! We will be here early to give you all all the news. For now, though, it’s goodbye and ‘goodnight folks’.

Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women

Chamari Athapathu (SL captain): [How do you rate Sri Lanka in this match?] We did really well as a bowler, lost a few catches in the field but did really well. And how the batsmen batted, it’s a wonderful spectacle to watch, the youngsters (are) doing very well. That’s a very good thing for the team and the nation as well. Early downfall of Harshitha-Kavisha duo, the way it was playing is amazing.

Match Highlights

Full Detail: Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women

They absorbed the pressure, they took singles and played really good. Under pressure, that partnership was match winning. We have good finishers like Harshitha, Nilakshika, Kavisha etc. who can reach back to back finals. Most of the players are playing really good, even the bowling unit. We have players here that are really good. If we can carry out our ideas in the finals, then I believe we can beat any team.

Fatima Sana | Pakistan captain and Player of the Match: Most of the things went well, but the last bit, (the) Sri Lankan middle order took the game away. I feel the way in which Harshitha and Kavisha played, they are good in (taking) singles. To them then the credit. Yes, 130 ought to be defended.

The fielding at the end, and we were giving a lot of runs at the end. So that was close. A slight improvement (on the batting side) in the tournament. Hopefully next time we will come with a good batting side. Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women.

Fatima Sana’s disappointment is reflected in her face, and Nilakshika Silva is running a buoyant race towards her partner who is all pumped up. Over the moon, the Sri Lankan dugout erupts into celebration, after a remarkable chase. Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women, They were under pressure at times but when they needed it most they managed to pull it off to secure a stunning win and secure a spot in the final.

This lower middle order has been nothing short of amazing in this competition and again they have done their thing. Chasing 130 on a challenging surface, Fatima Sana struck Chamari Athapaththu and Sanjana Kavindi off consecutive deliveries in the second over, soon after which Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani also fell in quick succession as Sri Lanka were all but out at 33/4. Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women

It was then when Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari joined forces and made 67 runs for the fifth wicket. Samarawickrama came up with 36 for 31 while Dilhari added a run-a-ball of 33 but neither could take the points off as both were stitched by Fatima to produce 4/38. After that, Nilakshika Silva (18* off 10) and Kaushani Nuthyangana (10* off 4) added the final flourishes to a memorable chase to guarantee Sri Lanka a third consecutive Women’s Asia Cup final. It’s a tough task for the defending champions as we are all set for the chase… Pakistan have got a decent total on the board…

Shawaal Zulfiqar: [Making aggressive strokes in the powerplay] I enjoyed that really. The thought was that the more I got the ball up, the more freedom of movement I would have, the better. Then we had a nice working relationship in the middle. Fatima’s approach to the innings was good, particularly her take up of responsibility at the end. For that reason, we got to 130 – a very respectable score on this wicket. Yes, certainly the wicket improved over the previous game.

The wicket had broke a bit early today, but today was a better wicket, and our batters were also very good. When I’m coming at them, my job in the team is to play intentionally. When I have the ball in my zone I will hit the ball. That’s how I intended to do it. [On the total posted] It’s a good total on this wicket. InshaAllah we hope we will be able to defend it.

Fatima Sana is completely exhausted as she walks off the pitch with her physio right by her side, 20:03 local time and 16:03 GMT and 21:33 IST. However, she should be very proud of this knock. The Pakistan captain has led them to the front and she and her side has got 130, which is a figure that is difficult to attack with their bowlers on this pitch.

Not an easy surface to bat on and Sri Lanka will have a big job in hand when they take the field in the game. Pakistan were the first to bat and they were forced to send Muneeba Ali to the plate early, followed by the 20 in the batting order of Shawaal Zulfiqar and Gull Feroza.

Tuba Hassan joined Fatima Sana at the end of 16 overs and the two shared an all-important unbeaten partnership for 38 runs in 24 balls for Pakistan, who were 92 for 5 after her arrival. Fatima hit the 130-run target, off 47 balls, in a bid to keep Pakistan in the game. We’re coming up to the run chase soon and we’ll see who will accompany India to the final on Sunday.

4.5
Chamari Athapaththu to Ayesha Zafar, no run, oh, looks like there was an edge, or perhaps some glove, but it doesn’t matter as the keeper has dropped it! Athapaththu thinks so too and is down on her knees. This would have been two in two for Sri Lanka.

The seam up delivery is angled down the leg side, Zafar dives for the shot across the line but appears to grab the ball before it impacts her body and rebounds to the left of the keeper. She was probably blinded by the bat swing, she has the ball and is juggling it a couple of times and can’t hold on to it.
Ayesha Zafar, right handed bat, comes to the crease
