West Indies royally defy spirited Scotland to post second consecutive victory

The Caribbean side had a strong hold and secured a seven-run victory over Scotland in the T20WC 2026.The Caribbean side played well and won by seven runs over Scotland in T20WC 2026.

After Stafanie Taylor’s late heroics with the bat lifted West Indies to 153/6, Scotland made a run for it with a strong start. After a cracking half-century by Darcey Carter, Scotland couldn’t fight it back to win in 20 overs.

It was second straight win for the West Indies, and helped them climb to No 2 in Group B standings.

Opting to field first, Scotland suffocated the West Indies with disciplined bowling that played to their field. Though West Indies has some big hitters at the top of the order, they weren’t able to break free.

With four in powerplay, the Caribbean side had merely four boundaries and scored 33/1 in the first six overs.

Katherine Fraser was also in the thick of things early as she made an awesome catch at the boundary and castled Hayley Matthews to dismiss Qiana Joseph.

After leading West Indies to a win against New Zealand in their match with an unbeaten, Campbelle was once against amongst the runs, registering 36 off 26. She anchored the innings for the third wicket in a 35-run partnership with Deandra Dottin on her milestone 150th day in T20Is.

However, West Indies got the better of them in the final five overs, after falling to 85/5, they recovered to 153/6.

It was Jahzara Claxton’s early effort with the first six of the innings that got them going but it was Taylor’s late effort that carried them over 150.

Taylor took a creative step to make room and free up her arms with the crease well to make a few big hits. West Indies plundered 29 runs in the last two overs, with Taylor signing off with two big hits to the fence in the final over. She sealed her unbeaten 47 off 19 balls.

Fraser was the most successful with 2/34, while Kathryn Bryce, Rachel Slater and Kirstie Gordon were all to pick up a wicket.
