Match summary: India Women v Bangladesh Women

With that India have booked their spot in the final, and will know who they’ll play tomorrow night. Will it be like the previous two editions, India Women vs Bangladesh Women, with India going head-to-head with Sri Lanka? Unfortunately, India suffered a defeat in the final of the 2024 tournament against them.

Or will Pakistan make their way through? India have already won the Asia Cup twice in 2012 and 2016 finals against Pakistan. We’ll discover tomorrow and we’re here to give you all the news! India Women vs Bangladesh Women, Till then, Siva, Sri Krishna and Hardik Worah bid their final farewells. Watch yourselves and come back soon!

Harmanpreet Kaur (India captain): [Are you happy with today’s performance of the team?] Yes, absolutely. We are doing pretty well in batting and bowling, we’re pretty happy about it. The second innings was of value, for good balls. India Women vs Bangladesh Women, If you were giving revs to the ball, there was value to that ball. Both teams’ spinners bowled really well today. Batters were striving for those runs, but there were plenty for the spinners and this is just a great example of how well they used it.

On little gestures of Deepti and Richa: The little gestures were there, particularly when you have a pitch like this, you don’t know how things will be, so when you have a little, India Women vs Bangladesh Women, it is definitely a big deal. Every bit of the partnership (that we had today) while we were hitting, was important, and even Richa Ghosh was a part of that. She had a couple of pretty good shots, but nothing much. But Deepti was superb with the ball. She would come to us when we needed something and give us breaks.

Player of the Match: Shafili Verma | On batting in the humid conditions and building her innings: Yeah, there’s lots of humidity out there, even in the middle of the game sometimes I can’t even breathe, India Women vs Bangladesh Women, I just try to inhale, exhale more, and just just in the starting, I didn’t get those balls, I’ll just do what I can.

Just this thing happened as I’m trying to gain more innings in my library. Yeah, of course, as I said earlier, it’s easy to run in the powerplay, in the first six overs, India Women vs Bangladesh Women, we were just trying to make a lot of runs in the powerplay and I know it’s my job to hit some sixes and fours in the powerplay, trying to do that.

Nigar Sultana | Bangladesh captain: [On conceding 149 runs] Yeah, actually we didn’t bowl well today because what we have done in the last three games, we bowled really well, as a side. I suppose we played pretty darn good. Over there we missed a lot of opportunities. Well, yes, it does happen. I don’t think that played into it, when you’re playing India in the semi-final.

It was just a bad day what happened to the whole team and yeah, sometimes, we really wanted to restrict them in a total that we can chase, but somehow we didn’t bat as well as in the powerplay. I mean, we played the three games, it was more of that, but we might see more good wicket this time, but nevertheless we bowled good ball. We created opportunities, but we didn’t take advantage, so they went on to bat really well.

I suppose we’ve accomplished a lot here, after our last game. The one thing we learned here is that we were very restricted here. So, that’s what we wanted to do in the future, we really wanted to play our all out game, and just have to go all out on the middle. India Women vs Bangladesh Women.

It’s another Women’s Asia Cup, and yet another final for the Indian team! India has never missed a final in the history of the competition and that feat will be continued in 2026. It was once again India’s turn to qualify for the top-2 clash. There aren’t too many expressions on the faces of the Indian players. They are sure to go through and they have done a clinical performance tonight.

Harmanpreet Kaur, with a straight face, walks over to the Bangladesh players to shake hands, while some of her teammates now have a smile on their faces. A 150 was always going to be a challenge here and India reached it on a stunning and lucky 64 off 40 from Shafali Verma. The top five of Bangladesh got starts, but it didn’t seem as if they were going to chase down the target at any point.

Before the spinners woke up, Kranti Gaud and Nandani Sharma were not too bad with the new ball and ensured that Bangladesh did not create any momentum in the chase. Deepti Sharma took three wickets while Prema Rawat and Shree Charani picked up a wicket each. Nandani returned to make two catches in the last over to restrict Bangladesh’s bowlers to just 109/7 in 20 overs. Post match reaction will be available soon. India Women vs Bangladesh Women.

Today’s lineups are the same as teams are sticking with their lineups! The toss was a dream come true for both captains. It will be the first six overs that will be crucial! How both teams perform during this powerplay could decide who wins the match.

Teams:
India Women (Playing XI): Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Bharti Fulmali, Richa Ghosh(w), Deepti Sharma, Prema Rawat, Shree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Nandani Sharma
Bangladesh Women (Playing XI): Dilara Akter, Juairiya Ferdous, Sobhana Mostary, Nigar Sultana(w/c), Sharmin Akhter, Shorna Akter, Fahima Khatun, Nahida Akter, Rabeya Khan, Sultana Khatun, Marufa Akter

Harmanpreet Kaur: Honestly we thought to bat first as we felt using runs on the board would give us a lot of confidence and good we got batting first. This is how you evaluate this match up in T20 format. No team is to be taken lightly and there is always a risk of an outcome. Today is a fresh game, and we have to go with a positive approach.

No, we’re sticking to our 11! [What would be a good total on this surface?] I’ve been telling that, this pitch is really tricky. You can’t really set something in your mind, but let’s see how our batting power play goes and accordingly we’ll see how much, we can put on the board.

Nigar Sultana: First we want to get on the ground and bowl, as per the conditions. We’d like to provide our bowlers a wicket to practice on. If you are looking to let 2018 memories out, I think it’s just a new day. We are just looking forward to play good cricket here as it has been a long time. There’s some good memories from (2018) but an important day for all of us as it’s our final game in this tournament.

It couldn’t be the final game, as if we can do well here, perhaps we will get one more chance (in the final). [Any changes?] No, we are playing the same 11. We want to limit them to a total that we (can) pursue.

Bangladesh Women have won the toss and have opted to field

Pitch Report | Veda Krishnamurthy & Farveez Maharoof: It’s a pretty good surface to bat on and particularly if you take all the deliveries into consideration there is a lot more bounce. The ball was skidding on to the batters. So I would say that from both the teams, India have picked up 21 wickets (spin) so far.

They are the wicket takers in this tournament and the middle order Bangladesh spinners have kept their wicket-taking economy. This wicket has plenty of bounce on it, trust that bounce and you can play those sweep shots. Absolutely (bowl first?). I’m going to play the conditions.

I believe we’ve had such a favour in Dubai for bowling first. It makes it challenging for batters to immediately come in to bat and get going. The boundaries are not that easy to come by. Several runs have been bowled out in the first few overs. So I think it’s the best choice to take on the position of bowler first. I think it’s going to be a important battle between Marufa Akter and Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana with the new ball. I believe that’s going to be the answer.

India are the clear favourites to reach the final, especially considering their deep batting order and the way they are playing. India have won their last eight matches against Bangladesh in their 24 contests in the shortest format of the game.India have won their last eight matches against Bangladesh in 24 T20Is, having lost just three of them.

But knockout games add more pressure and Bangladesh will seek to break India’s rhythm early on with their disciplined spin attack which is how they’ve succeeded in defeating India on the three occasions. There’s going to be a lot of fireworks going off, with both teams competing for the No. 1 spot to earn their way into the top four matchup. Stay tuned as we will bring you the toss and team updates in a bit!
