This has been such an exciting game so far. If you missed out on the action, then Firdose’s report will be in soon. Which is all this evening for us. Have a rest day tomorrow at the T20 World Cup and will be back nice and early on Tuesday for more action. Till then, this is me Ashish Pant saying goodbye on behalf of Sudarshanan and Raghav. Ciao!
Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa captain: It was a great end of the game, a great game. We were really under a lot of pressure up there on the bench, I believe. I believe I shot the best knock I’ve seen in such pressure from that position, and I think that was a great knock. Plus, it’s against a team that we lost the final game to. [On Kapp] I think she’s probably the biggest big match player that I’ve ever seen.
I’m very happy that she’s in my team. Whenever there is something on the line or we are playing a World Cup, it is her best cricket which comes out. I think she wasn’t feeling that great today, but let’s hope if she’s going to play like this, she’s not feeling that great every day. So, it’s just amazing. I believe she’s a player who’s two. The way that she bowled as well was awesome. How she bowls in the previous game and now to play a knock like this, is incredible. I think it’s her competitive spirit,

because it just brings out the best in her. Yeah, we didn’t get off to the best start. I wish we had been able to go ahead a little sooner than that. A game such as this actually did want to get ahead the pace early in the game since the slow spin was going to be a problem later.
We had a bit too much to do on the back end but something special was needed to get it done and thankfully it was. But I think that we can be a little bit better, even if it’s not in the powerplay, but just getting off strike.
[On the bowling] I think the way that they started the first two overs, they pretty much smashed. I believe our bowlers in the middle were superb to come back like that. All were fairly changed. I believe it’s just that we didn’t leave the stumps and didn’t give them much to do.
We could contain the big hitters at the end of it as well which was a pretty big one. I believe this is because if you had let us know 160, we would have definitely taken it before the match. Yeah, good we made it, but,
Harmanpreet Kaur, India captain: We had a few opportunities between but we were unable to take the chances. We had two matches and it’s now the time to be positive. Very good bowling performance by Shree Charani and Shafali with the ball but no support by the fielder. We need to make the best of opportunities at this level. We were not blessed like that.
We have two games and it is time to start to consider that. We will gather and deliberate on what to do and then we will look at what changes are to be made. [On Kapp] She stole the ball from us. She was giving us two opportunities, and that’s the important times that she took, and that’s what got the game away from us. Ball was turning. Shafali and Shree Charani did really well.
There have been a lot of learnings, a lot of positive moments and there have been a lot of moments where I have to be strong on her 200th T20I. It’s a time for keeping your chin up and considering what you can do in the next games. We shall try to improve in the forthcoming games hopefully.
Marizanne Kapp was the player of the game: It was a challenging game. Playing in India is a difficult affair at all times. I’m very proud of how the team bounced back. I was just praying—trust me. I think that I’m doing well when I’m in earlier.
The initial several balls were hard for me. Our collaboration with Taz was ideal. It’s a difficult place to bat in, you have to let it not get too far out, but not lose too many wickets. We had the big hitters in the back-end and just wanted to put our heads down.
The batting powerplay is always like that in India, we know that they always score quick [scoring quick in the powerplay]. Especially this wicket it was flat with the ball. They boast some fantastic players.
However, the bowlers got us back and we were saved. [The crowd] I was calm out there and was just praying. I like Indian fans, they don’t shout my name just that. I don’t mind that
5.52pm And breathe! What makes SA v/s India World Cup matches so special! Another thriller, another game to the last over and Kapp has South Africa to a fantastic victory. She completes her unbeaten 81 off 45 balls and boosts SA’s move up to third position on the points table.
They were running 159 runs and making no progress. They had only scored 25 runs in the powerplay. However Kapp and Brits had a 97 run partnership in 63 balls for the partnership, which was Kapp the aggressor.
She was hit three times and she was dropped twice, first by Nandani and twice by Radha but she struck lucky. She was required rate still flying high but she scored the fours at frequent intervals and drove in SA home in the last over. That means SA’s hopes of making the semi are alive
Mohd Irshad: “I think it’s all going to be a blockbuster game when it comes to IndiaVsAustralia.
According to Pdma, the poor fielding and bad running between the wickets cost India this game. The girls had but just a day off. In any case, well done to all of you, prep for next…
